In what may be an attempt at repairing broken ties between the two countries, Mexico has delivered no less than 200 giant pinatas at various locations along the U.S./Mexico border. The pinatas, each one 40 ft. tall and 15 ft. wide, turned up Sunday night. Each pinata had a small tag attached that read “To: America, Love: Mexico”.
U.S. officials were baffled at this surprising show of camaraderie on the part of the Mexican nation. “They really are nice, very festive.” commented U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano at the press conference later that night, “And with all this trouble with illegal immigration it’ll be good to finally have something cross our borders that we actually want.”
Monday morning extra Border Patrol officers will arrive to assist in pulling the pinatas across the border into U.S. territory. The additional manpower will be required after reports of the pinata being “unusually heavy” considering it’s made of mache and filled with goodies.
Tuesday night a large reception ceremony will be held in New Orleans to celebrate the generous gifts and to give the city there another chance to get totally wasted. Sources say that all 200 pinatas will be brought to the celebration. “We can only speculate as to what kind of tasty Mexican candy these pinatas hold.” concluded Napolitano at the press conference.
